I had the opportunity to serve on a panel on behalf of the American Academy of Pediatrics to develop drink recommendations for children ages 0-5. Together, and based on the best available scientific information, this panel developed guidelines to help parents make the best drink choices for their young kids. The bottom line? Just drink water and plain milk. Skip the chocolate milk. Even skip the artificially or stevia-sweetened drinks and 100% juice (unless you have absolutely no other access to fruit). Kids do better when they learn early on to prefer plain drinks.
